11/29/2023 0 Comments Movie mulholland drive![]() ![]() Unfortunately, I can't find this movie being sold on VHS or DVD anywhere. Surreal mystery drama by David Lynch in which an aspiring actress finds herself involved in a strange and sinister conspiracy. I have this movie on videotape that had to have been recorded in the mid-80's by a friend or myself when I was around 13 years old. Except perhaps for a 1980 Chevy Camaro Z28 and a Jaguar XKE. Mulholland Drive, which the New York Film Festival is showing tonight and tomorrow afternoon at Alice Tully Hall (it opens commercially on Monday), is a fascinating example of how a great film. None of these cars are straight of the shelf. And some who aren't! This was the days before the after- market auto industry made it possible for just about anyone to build a cool car through a catalogue or the Internet. Dan has asked Herb to come here, and Herb wants to know why. Goodrich tiers under AC Cobra like wheel well flares! This move will satisfy all car nuts. Dan (Patrick Fischler) and Herb (Michael Cooke) are sitting in Winkie's on a bright sunny day. And of course, Steve's (Harry Hamlin) Porsche 356 Speedster with Centerline wheels on WIDE B.F. Giving you a tour of where some of the biggest celebrities live on Muholland Drive in Los Angeles, such as Jack Nicholson, Eddie Murphy, Mark Wahlberg, Sylve. The first and second halves of the movie feel like parallel universes, with the same actors playing similar but different characters with the names all. I saw an example of one of these cars in a magazine with a Chevy 350 installed. Mulholland Drive is as brilliant and disquieting as anything Lynch has ever done. The real stars (the cars) are not forgotten here. Great action throughout, a fair script and good actors, although it may not have been their best acting performance. A film has resisted our efforts to pound it into submission, Every year I join some 1000 students and townspeople here at the University of Colorado on a 5-day, 12-hour shot-by-shot trek through a film. More action than that sucky commercial flick Gone in 60 Seconds that bored me in six milliseconds! THIS IS A CLASSIC CAR ACTION FILM IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. ![]()
